The Dakshinamurti Stotram, in praise of the glory of Ishvara, holds a significant place in the literature of Shankara. “ I am the whole, with time, place and everything therein”. This essence unfolded by the Upanishads, is captured beautifully in thee verses by Shankara. They depict the self as self-revealing consciousness and the objects that are reveled as drawing their being from the self. These verses are said to be one of the best methods for warding off the ill effects of the planets ibn one’s chart in general and of the planet guru in particular. Before you can know Ishvara you need to know yourself, and for this you need the help of a guru. Lord Dakshinamurti, although sitting in silence presents that first in an unbroken lineage of teachers.
