One of the oldest and most important Upanishads, Chandogya is second only to Brhadaranyaka in terms of length. It forms the last eight chapters of the Chandogya Brahmana of the Sama Veda and is a great source of principal Vedanta fundamentals. Many references are made to this Upanishad in Brahma Sutras further indicating its’ importance It also presents special forms of Upasana (meditation) that help us attain the steadiness of mind necessary to grasp the teaching. Chandogya is a compendium of teachings of numerous Vedic sages, and contains the famous dialogue between Sage Uddalaka and his disciple-son Svetaketu. Chandogya Upanisad with Sankarabhasya unfolded from selected sections of the Chandogya Upanisad.
